PIPEDA — federal private-sector privacy, where it applies

PIPEDA is not a vendor certification and it is not the only Canadian privacy law.

For many federally regulated or interprovincial private-sector organizations, PIPEDA sets expectations for accountability, consent, safeguards and breach reporting. Cross-border processing (including to the United States) must be contemplated honestly.

Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec operate substantially similar private-sector regimes. Using BaseCloud does not make an organization “PIPEDA compliant.” We provide technical and operational controls that may support your program.
