Privacy requirements without infrastructure complexity
We do not say “PIPEDA compliant everywhere.” Privacy in Canada is federal, provincial and sector-specific. Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec have private-sector privacy regimes recognized as substantially similar to PIPEDA; additional rules apply to health information and the public sector.

Quebec
Law 25: governance, privacy impact assessments where applicable, and data-handling duties.
British Columbia & Alberta
PIPA (private sector) and health-information statutes where they apply, including Alberta’s Health Information Act.

PHIPA for health information custodians and their agents — not a substitute for PIPEDA.

Canadian data residency options
We will not call an environment “Canadian data residency” if data may be processed outside Canada. Canada-only and Canada + US hybrid are architecture choices confirmed in the proposal.

Healthcare IT in Canada is not HIPAA-by-default
Clinics, hospitals, labs, digital health and research organizations often sit under provincial health-information law (for example PHIPA in Ontario) in addition to, or instead of, PIPEDA. US HIPAA may still matter if you process US patient data. We design controls; we do not certify you.

Questions we expect from Canadian IT and privacy leadership
Are you a hosting company?
No. We take operational responsibility for infrastructure, engineers, security and continuity.
Is this PIPEDA certification?
No. PIPEDA is a legal regime, not a vendor badge. We design technical and operational controls that may support your program.
Can we keep data in Canada?
Yes, when the architecture specifies Canada-only hosting, backup and DR. If any replica or admin path leaves Canada, we say so.
Do you work in French for Quebec?
French-language engagement is available. Start on the French Canada page or request FR in the discovery call.
